Emily Platt is a litigation associate in the Complex Litigation and Class Action Department at The Sentinel Firm. With a focus on prosecuting complex wage-and-hour class actions and Private Attorneys General Act ("PAGA") representative actions, Ms. Platt is committed to defending and upholding the rights of employees in both state and federal court.
Ms. Platt developed her background in labor and employment matters by serving as outside general corporate counsel to clients across a variety of industries, including established commercial businesses, technology startups, retail, and hospitality ventures. In this role, Ms. Platt advised clients on a range of employment-related issues, with a particular focus on the PAGA and other wage and hour violations. Her corporate experience provides a useful framework of knowledge to best represent clients' rights and to hold businesses accountable.
Prior to working as outside general corporate counsel for employers, Ms. Platt worked as both a post-graduate fellow for Mayor Eric Garcetti and as a practicing public interest attorney, working to preserve the housing rights of Angelenos.
Ms. Platt earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California, where she graduated with a Public Interest Certificate. She received her B.A. in Law and Society, with a minor in Psychology from American University, graduating cum laude. Ms. Platt is admitted to practice law in the State of California, as well as the United States District Courts for the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of California.
